Anyone experience of cholesteatoma?

Just that really. Have had some ear issues and had to have wax removed recently. Audiologist described one ear as abnormal and advised me to get a referral to a specialist. I saw GP today who had written a referral describing a possible cholesteatoma. From what I have read it makes sense that that is what it could be but I wondered if anyone had experience. Thanks.

My dd has had two, one in each ear at different times. She has a long history of ear problems though. If you have anything you’d like to know in particular, I’ll try and answer.

I've just been diagnosed with cholesteatoma. Surgery is required apparently. I'm yet to meet with the surgeon who will perform it, I've been referred from one ENT to another and awaiting that appointment. What's the latest with you, OP? @LondonGirl1968

Bit of a delayed reply from me. Turned out not to be - was just v bad wax. Great relief though was diagnosed with advanced cancer a few months later so 🤷‍♀️
