He is breast fed and is feeding and looking generally well. Should we be doing anything else for him? It's sad to see him straining so hard to get it all out!

how old is he?

If he is taking breast milk and seems OK in himself, then just wait for the bug to pass. Breast milk is excellent for upset stomachs.

Ds is 16 weeks old today.

16 weeks is still pretty little. My Dr says never to leave it longer than 48 hours before taking a baby in if he has either vomiting or the runs because they can dehydrate so quickly. Agree with fluffyanimal that breast milk is the best thing for it as it has loads of the fore milk to keep him hydrated but it might be worth checking out.

Just come back from the drs, they're not to worried as he looks OK, but he's still not right and he's been really screaming loudly this afternoon which is unusual for him. I'm worried that he might have done himself some damage from all the straining that he's done the past 2 days. His bum area is so red and sore too, we are using sudo cream, but should we be using anything else? We're going to take his nappy off after his nap he's just having to some air get to it, hoping this may help a bit. Any other tips would be most appriciated, this is all very new to us.

How is he today macca? He's probably just got gripy pains if he is crying a lot, you can give him calpol for that.
