Bowel pain on antibiotics

Would you be worried about bowel pain while on antibiotifcs.

have had 16 days of antibiotics for a UTI lots of changee in as first lot wasnt sensative to but only told after a week and then symptoms after 5 days on the last.

I woke at 2.30 with horrendus bowel pain. Have done a small formed bm. Which was soft but burnt. Now in lots of pain. M

have a complex bowel history with endo and small bowel resection. Now manage with vsl3.

why do these things always happen on bank holidays?

Personally I'd stop taking the antibiotics. 15 days is bloody hard. Phone GP Tuesday morning

i wouldn’t worry about it in the sense that I know it always happens but I do try not to take antibiotics unless I bloody have to and I ask for the ones with minimum bowel impact.

I get monuril two sachets over three days. Takes another five days to settle down. 🤬

not sure stopping the antibiotics is sensible. Currently have a kidney stone and need to be clear of the uti for it to be treated. Ended up taking the oppiortunity to go back to sleep and have woken warm but without a temp.

Well I didn't realise you had a kidney stone. Presumably you need it to be shattered

@justasking111 Sorry didnt put about the stone, sorry to drip feed yes need it infection gone for stone to be shattered. Currently have a stent in to so have that fun.

thanks will call 111 if no better tomorrow. Just dipped urine and only showed trace blood which isnt a prob with the stent. Temp has nowcome down.

Habe filled in the 111 thing and says speak to GP today or tomorrow

have woken with it verry sore again which ids super frustrating. Stone is on the left but pain is on the right. Vms are slightly softer but smell like an animal.

Speak to GP asap.

My aointment for surgery is thursday. Bit concerned wont be able to speak to the doc before then

Take some yogurt. Antibiotics are prescribed with yogurt or probiotics in many other countries. If I don't have probiotics or yogurt with antibiotics, I get stomach pain, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, flatulence, etc. Otherwise 100% normal digestive system when I'm not on antibiotics.

I have been using optiback probiotics for those on antibiotics.

111 online purely says to see a GP in the next day or so. Obviously cant give the info on stent and surgery thogh.

Does your surgery have an after-hours service for BH? If not, then Urgent Care.

If you develop diarrhea make sure you stay hydrated.

Thanks am pushing fluids which seems to be working but only ate a banana and some pasta with a tiny bit of pesto
