Went to the walk in yesterday and GP diagnosed me with otitis externa/swimmers ear and prescribed Otomize (antibiotic spray). Had been having pain, a blocked feeling and discharge for about 5 days. Started using the spray around 1pm.
By the evening the pain in my left ear had got so much worse. Now it is SO BAD!! I can’t close my jaw. Been laying awake for hours. Constant aching all around the ear.
Surely after 3 doses of the antibiotic spray it should be a tiny bit better/at least not getting worse?
Do I wait it out or go back?
thank you!

I've never had good result for the spray, I'd go back for tablets.

In my experience I’ve needed spray and tablets to knock on the head , but GP’s always start with the spray. Go back , ear pain can be excruciating.

Thanks both. I went back this morning and they’ve given me cetraxal plus drops for it. I’ve put the contents of one of the little plastic things in each ear and waited for ages but when I sat up most of it seemed to come out (both ears). I’m wondering if my ears are too blocked/ swollen to take liquid in? He didn’t offer tablets, said the drops were ‘the next level’
