yes i do

it is the finest hour of my week

OrmIrian · 20/05/2008 10:17

Errr...not any more. Well not officially as in classes. I have been known to do the odd sun salutation, plough or (hopping) crane (??) even now though. Never got the hang of standing on my head one.

hattyyellow · 20/05/2008 10:19

Yes, love it.

About to start an antental class (although that tends to be perhaps a bit too gentle to the point of nearly falling asleep).

Do struggle with the lying down breathing/quiet meditation time at the end of the class - I don't often get to lie down quietly in a dark room and I tend to want to fall asleep rather than concentrating, pregnant or not!

OrmIrian · 20/05/2008 10:22

It is hard to find the space (physical and mental) and time to practice yoga without going to classes I find. Which is a shame.

ranting · 20/05/2008 10:22

Yep, been doing it for years, love it. Makes me feel that all is right with the world.

Cappuccino · 20/05/2008 10:24

I am going on a weekend yoga retreat in a few weeks hoorah

I got a 'Yoga for Chronic Fatigue' book and the woman was running one

I have tried to get up early in the morning but dd2 comes and jumps on top of me and plays with my boobs

OP posts:
RubySlippers · 20/05/2008 10:25

a weekend retreat sounds dreamy

Cappuccino · 20/05/2008 10:28

Is it the yoga foundation?
If so they are great, they're based near us.

Cappuccino · 20/05/2008 10:30

no is some quaker place in Surrey

OP posts:
RubySlippers · 20/05/2008 10:31

but probably plenty of wheatgrass juice

you will feel very cleansed

i hope you enjoy it

hattyyellow · 20/05/2008 10:34

very jealous

Cappuccino · 20/05/2008 10:37

I don't know what it will be like tbh

it is for people with Chronic Fatigue

so it will either be incredibly uplifting and energising or will be a weekend away with miserable ill people moaning and no drink to block them out with

never mind at least I will be able to feign a relapse and go lie down without comment

OP posts:
RubySlippers · 20/05/2008 10:40

i hope it does improve things for you

i find yoga incredibly energising although relaxing at the same time

aches and pains that i have had for ages are diminishing

Cappuccino · 20/05/2008 10:40

would anyone be interested in a yoga thread?

I have been reading lots about meditation and listening to podcasts

I would love to talk about it with people

OP posts:
RubySlippers · 20/05/2008 10:43

thread sounds good

Cappuccino · 20/05/2008 10:57

you and me then Ruby

OP posts:
RubySlippers · 20/05/2008 11:00

just the two of us practising our downward dogs then

we shall be very bendy, have arms like Madonna and everyone else will be very

Seasider · 20/05/2008 11:02

Hi
Doing yoga keeps me from seizing up completely and makes me calmer. I do a class once a week at my DCs school.

Still no chance of ever looking like Madonna tho!

Seasider · 20/05/2008 11:03

PS

have you thought about posting this on chat? I only stumbled on this by chance...

funnypeculiar · 20/05/2008 11:07

hello, me too I was actually attempting to put my foot behind my head last night in classic yoga style.

Have recently returned to yoga (used to do quite a reasonable amount pre-dcs) but am struggling to find a good local teacher ... am on my third locally, & she's this best of the bunch, but doesn't correct individuals (which I need) & does everything so fast I'm practically dizzy at the end of a class

Need to find something slower & more meditative...

Cappuccino · 20/05/2008 11:47

I've been reading a lot about meditation and listening to some podcasts

I'm trying to empty my brain and do the nice breathing but I am too much of a worrier

I am waiting for Enlightenment to come but I just get bored

maybe I am spiritually bereft

IorekByrnison · 20/05/2008 11:47

Me too, although I haven't managed to get to any classes since dd was born, but do my sun salutations etc most days. Wish I could do more. A weekend retreat sounds like just what I need - tell us more, capp.

Cappuccino · 20/05/2008 11:53

I don't know any more really

it was a bit of a whim tbh

dh just said go for it

Seasider · 20/05/2008 12:05

Being in a group at the weekend should be very soothing/energising, I find it almost impossible to get the right moment to do any yoga at home...
