What side do you carry your baby at? I carry them on the left and sometimes find that when I was carrying a heavy baby about a lot I would get aches on the left hand side.

Hi Elsie, if I were you I would still pop along to my GP just to get checked out. Wonder if it could be a trapped nerve or something, but a bit odd that it only seems to be at night.

How are you feeling otherwise?

I suffered in a very similar way after having DD. My wrists were particularly painful and I also found it hard to hold her. I felt like I'd aged about 40 years. I never went to the doctors but it eventually improved on its own. I think they were much better by DD's 2nd birthday. Hope you feel better soon.

my friend had this, it was due to the weight of picking up the baby, and as sweetkitty says, holding the baby and twisting your back to do so.

she got a sling to wear in the daytime, and learned to pick him up using her other hand, and it improved a lot

I carry her on my left side, did think about that. maybe i should try swapping sides for a bit and see......!Usually worse pains when i lift arm above my head.

Elsie, I do get that but I had this problem way before having DD. I have had some physio on my arm and it is a lot better. I still get it though and more so since I had DD. I do the exercises that my physio gave me and it eases it.

I would still recommend going to your GP though, just to check things.

Get your self to an osteopath. Sounds like pains I get quite regularly which although I often feel in my arm, stems from by upper back and neck. Ligaments go all funny when you have had a baby. Sounds like you might need a bit of massage and manipulation.

ill go to doctors and let you know what he says. as for someone mentioning massage, sounds lovely and cant possibly do any harm!
