Suddenly got lots of cherry angiomas

funinthesun19 · 11/05/2025 19:35

I’ve noticed lots of tiny little red pin pricks on my arms which I think are Cherry angiomas.
I’ve also got some bigger ones appear on my chest.

Is this anything to worry about or is it common for quite a few to appear at once?

Very common for them to appear in multiples once you're over a certain age.

@SilverTapz I’m 35 so is that a common age for this to happen?

Yep most common over 30.

I got loads after I had kids

mjg62 · 11/05/2025 20:46

Are they cherry angiomas or a petechial rash? In my experience cherry angiomas are a bit bigger than pinpricks. Worth checking out.

Myoldbear · 11/05/2025 20:51

Some medications can cause them.

I'm pretty sure quite a few on my chest are associated with antibiotics, but I don't actually know that. They did appear in a short space of time.

I don't wear v neck clothes any more because of two close together which I'm self conscious about when I do.

They can be successfully removed I think, but it's expensive.

If they're definitely cherry angiomas they are nothing to worry about from a health point of view.

They certainly can be very tiny. They can be less than half a mm.

I zap mine with my Phillip's Lumea as soon as they appear. Seems to do the trick.

funinthesun19 · 13/05/2025 01:36

Hi everyone, thank you for the replies. Is it normal for so many to appear in a short space of time? Maybe I’ve only just started paying attention to them and they’ve been appearing gradually over time without me noticing because they are so small. But I’m almost certain I didn’t have this many until recently.

I’m worrying myself silly that this is something serious. I did what I shouldn’t have done and Googled, and found out that cherry angiomas can be present if you have intravascular lymphoma which is lymphoma in the small blood vessels. I keep obsessively looking at my skin to see if more have an appeared.
I’m going to go and see my GP tomorrow.

@funinthesun19Hello. Same position as you. Did you get to the bottom of your little red dots at all?

Rosecat22 · 10/07/2025 14:54

To reassure you I noticed a massive proliferation of tiny red dots all over my body when I was around 30 and got my first few cherry angiomas over the next few years.

I had a blood test at the time and it flagged up no issues. I've just had a blood test recently, almost ten years later (for unrelated reasons) and there's still nothing nefarious going on

dogcatkitten · 10/07/2025 14:58

When I was pregnant I was told they could be a symptom of a platelet problem, they were going to do tests but baby arrived in between time and nothing more was said. I've had them as long as I can remember although some go and others appear.

Lollyl88 · 10/07/2025 15:01

@Rosecat22Thank you. That’s helpful. I’ve just started HRT so wondered if it might be hormone related. @dogcatkittenthanks also. I’ve recently had a fbc blood test and it was fine. Just seems they’re sprouting up everywhere!

@funinthesun19Hello. Did you get to the bottom
of this at all?

loosethemoose · 15/03/2026 07:23

What happened with this? I had hundreds/thousands crop up this time last year over my entire body and they're just increasing and spreading. Had normal bloods etc which were ok. I had one biopsied which showed they were cherry angiomas. I did have one private blood test which was elevated which causes new blood vessel growth but I never got to the underlying cause!

GloiredeDijon · 15/03/2026 07:32

Entirely normal. I asked my consultant dermatologist (who I see for melanoma) and she says this is just what happens as you age. No need for concern.

ScarlettSarah · 18/03/2026 07:58

I'm 40 and have had loads for about the last ten years.
