just had root canal treatment so how soon can i eat or drink?

I forgot to ask the dentist. I was just so happy that it didn't hurt that I skipped out the surgery. Now I am thirsty and wondered if its like having a filling? Do you have to wait a while?

Has the dentist filled it with a temporary filling? You should be able to have a drink just don't swill it around your mouth. Leave the food for a couple of hours to let the filling dry. If it is a temporary filling them bits will come off the top but it should go hard.

whats a temp filling? I don't need to go back for 6 months so am hoping that filling will stay put!

It sounds like a permanent one if you don't have to go back for 6 months, sometimes they put a temporary one in if they have to do some more work on the tooth (like put a crown on the top). They are more chalky then permanent ones and are pink (sometimes). An hour should be fine. I'm pleased it went OK for you and that you are pain free .

You will be fine to eat and/or drink. Just be careful if you are still numb that you don't either scald yourself or bite your lip.

avenanap, dentist doesn't have to do any more work on it thank god. I was really scared but it went remarkably well. am off to have a coffee and dribble it all down my chin!
