Benign breast cyst suddenly grown alot

I found a breast lump a few weeks ago. I was referred to the breast clinic and was luckily
told it was a cyst that would resolve itself. It has stayed the same size since then (check every other day) until today when it has grown about 5 times as big overnight! It doesn't really hurt anymore than it did before. I'll ring the GP Monday but I just wondered whether this is normal, does it burst?!

I get lumpy breasts and have to have cysts drained every so often when they get large and uncomfortable

Ahh ok thank you. Sorry silly question but do you get referred back to the hospital for it to be drained?

@828Pax I’ve had them drained on my visit to the breast clinic. Like you say they seem to suddenly grow, so by the time I have been through GP and been referred to the breast clinic the lump is usually a good few cm (I felt like I had dropped a bra size the last time I went!)

They do give me the option to have them drained and they only drain the larger ones, so yes I assume they would disperse naturally at some point

I’ve had two drained (or maybe the same one twice), they both grew incredibly quickly a week or so before my period then subsided. This was in perimenopause. So hormonal changes is a possible trigger. Went to breast clinic both times, and the consultant was really clear to go back for any changes - that is what the clinic is for.

Thanks so much @crumblingschools
@lacksomjam I have been wondering
whether I'm in peri over the last few months so the hormone thing would make sense.
I'll go back to the GP Monday

Did you ever get an answer on this? Mine burst this morning and has already started refilling!
