can you get throat infection with no tonsils?

had mine out years ago, not had many sore throats but I have a really sore one now and back of tongue is a bit white and manky-looking

have just started job which involves using voice professionally - am wondering if it could be linked? thanks in advance...

I am panicking as worried the new strain on my voice may have caused it somehow...

yes - I have no tonsils or adenoids and got the mother of all throat infections a year ago.
Could just be a voice strain type thing, from what you say.

yep. There are lots of different kinds of throat infection. Tonsilitus(SP?) is just one that covers your tonsils.
Get some VocalZones from your chemist. They are fab for vocalists so would imagine they would work for you. Unless you do have an infection then ABs would be better
