How long before I know if I caught cold sores

DP gets them and is really careful not to kiss me when he has an active sore.

Recently he's had repeated outbreaks with barely a few days sore free. I've kissed him (me more than him) when they were "almost" gone. How long before I find out exactly how stupid that was?

I used to worry about this when I was with a DP who had them. I asked on here once after ab incident where he’d touched it and then gone to touch me intimately without washing his hands. Of course I stopped him. But was asking if I was unreasonable to have asked him to wash his hands, as he’d blown up at me.

People seemed to think that you’ll have already been exposed to the virus so if you haven’t had an outbreak yet you probably never will. I’d still be careful but try not to worry too much. I was with him 10 years and never caught one.

I did wonder if maybe I have some immunity. My Dad gets them and is very proud of never having passed them on to us kids (or mum) through being careful, but maybe somehow we're all immune?

Yeah maybe you all got your mum’s immunity?
