conflicting advice from NHS direct and doctors on milk whilst diorreah

what shall I do? Who shall I listen to on this?

um, not sure what advise you received and why. It all depends on the age of the child too. If you can only get liquids in through milk, feed milk. If there are other foods he/she will eat and drink, avoid milk. The advise to starve is old hat, feed if child wants to eat, but avoid dairy if possible.
