Although I’m pretty fit and active, I’m not a frequent runner due to a lifelong hip problem.
This morning my hip was feeling pretty good and as it was such a gorgeous day, I decided to go for a run. I do quite a lot of cardio workouts but I don’t run frequently. I was running along a fairly slow pace and suddenly got quite a sharp pain in my calf around halfway up slightly towards the right hand side. I couldn’t run after that and had to limp home. I’m not sure what I have done, if I weight-bear on my whole foot evenly distributed then it feels fine,, if I sit with my leg up it is fine, however if I then move onto the ball of my foot, for example, when I am walking, then it is really really painful. I can’t really walk very much as it’s so painful. Obviously, I will try and go and see somebody this week but I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on what I might have done? I’ve never somehow miraculously I have never incurred an injury while exercising before!

Sounds similar to when I sprained/tore (can’t recall now, it was years ago) my calf muscle. Sudden, surprisingly sore, stops walking. Not much to be done for it. I was told it just happens sometimes - I had warmed up and usually stretch so didn’t expect it.
hope it’s not too painful - rest, ice, elevate is prob the best thing for it.

Thank you @Fretfulagain it definitely sounds like that’s a possibility! Can you remember how long it took to heal?

I think a week of rest (so limping around at home) and then bit-by-bit a return to normal - so prob a few weeks total?
