Sore gum. Tooth extracted years ago

Since Monday my gum has been painful
and sore. I thought I just had an ulcer on it. The sore is where I had a tooth out at least 5 years ago. Eating and brushing my teeth is aggravating it.

This evening while eating dinner (chilli and jacket potato) I felt something sharp in my mouth and wasn't sure if it was a bit of tooth. I hadn't felt a crunch so put it down to there being a bit of bone in the meat still. Now I've just found another tiny bit of tooth/bone in my mouth. From what I can feel none of my teeth feel sharp like a bit of tooth has broken.

Is it possible for the sore in my mouth to be from a piece of bone working its way out all these years later?

Ohh I had that. Not 5 years but maybe a year or so. The gum got sore and then there was something pointy under it. I used my tongue to dig about over a week or so and a tiny tooth splitter came out.

The body is amazing at expelling foreign objects. A friend had a car crash and for years afterwards tiny bits of glass would randomly work their way out of her scalp.

Yes it could be. A piece of root could have been left in, it can take years sometimes for it to work it's way to the surface. I've had this happen.

I had that, think it was a wisdom tooth but it was around 15 years later.
I got a nasty what I thought was an ulcer but then I cleaned it up and there was puss and a tiny bit of tooth came out. This was about 4 or 5 years ago and there is a little divot there, it can flare up a bit and get sore but no more tooth has come out.
I had my wisdom teeth our surgically under GA as they were so bad.

The gum is so bloody sore. I often get mouth ulcers so I just presumed I had an ulcer starting there. I'm now making it worse by prodding and poking it 😩

The healed socket is normally smooth and does feel a little lumpy.

I am petrified of the dentist so anxiety has now started to kick in!!

I had this. I had a tooth extracted years anfo and maybe 5 years after I woke up in agony in the middle of the night. Awful pain around the extraction site despite there not being a tooth there. Had to book emergency weekend dentist the next day which cost several hundred. There was a shard of tooth coming through which they removed on the spot and the pain went instantly.

I got some detol on a cotton bud and gently cleaned mine, got some blood and puss off and it felt better.

Could be worth having a dentist look at it incase it’s a gum abscess. I had one at the start of the year.

This is my fear! I thought the soreness would have gone away by now. There's no swelling though 🤔
