Ramipril side effects

Is anyone on Ramipril for high blood pressure? Do you mind sharing any side effects you have?

I’ve read the possible side effects online and in the packet leaflet but interested to hear real stories.

I have some other health issues going on and want to try and work out which might be Ramipril related. Thank you!

Hi, yes cough is a well known side effect, it can be mild and some people can tolerate it, others can’t. Ramipril is also known to cause sore muscles and joints and has other potential side effects which could make you feel a bit rubbish but it is also a very good medicine. It would be good to know how long you’ve been on it. If it’s a couple of days, things could settle, if longer or severe, definitely worth a quick chat with the GP or your local pharmacist. There are plenty of alternatives.

Thank you, I started it a week last Saturday so not very long. I think the pharmacist said they’d call and check in so I can report back on all of this and hopefully tweak the dose.

I am on 2.5mg since last summer, thinking about it I did have a cough in the autumn but so did everyone. I now have no other side effects I'm aware of. Whereas Amlodipine gave me terrible swelling ankles.

I have the occasional cough but apart from that it’s been a fantastic medication, it’s solved my Radom chest pains and the combination of it and the lower blood pressure has eased a lot of my anxiety

2.5mg per day for the last couple of months and no side effects

Also had issues with the cough, but as have cough anyway due to long standing reflux issues it was hard to know which caused it, though it did initially get worse, no other side effects that I’ve noticed, unlike the amlodopine i took before

I’m on it. Never had any side affects at all
