I've had 7 colds and 1 bout of Covid in the last 18 months. I'm so tired of feeling under par so often. The last cold I had turned into sinusitis and I was ill for 3 weeks over Christmas. I have started another cold this week.
Would you see your GP or is this just par for the course. I had bloods taken just over a year ago when I saw the rheumatology consultant regarding fibromyalgia including FBC and these were in normal range.

What would you do?

Are you my poor DD?
She was seriously sick non stop from the beginning of November to just recently, with temperatures during her back to back viruses that nothing would bring down. I ended up draping her with towels soaked in cold water during one illness, and forcing her to take a tepid bath when she had maxed out the daily allowed dosage of both Tylenol and ibuprofen. All followed by three bouts of strep. She's finally out of the woods and feeling healthy again after the doctor prescribed augmentin for the third round of strep.

Definitely go to the doctor for a checkup. DD was given covid and flu tests every time she went, all of them negative. There are treatments for both - by about the fourth visit DD was hoping for a positive test. Certainly if you notice any strep symptoms you should go asap, and if you're run down from successive mystery respiratory viruses your risk of catching bacterial infections can rise.

Thank you for your advice. I don't think I'm your DD <eyes @mathanxiety suspiciously> !

Apart from the time I had COVID, I've not really had a temperature/fever so definitely more in cold territory than flu territory. Also pretty sure they are viral not bacterial so no signs of Strep.

I don't think I'd qualify for antivirals here in the UK.

I take your point about repeated viral infection making you more susceptible to bacterial infection though.

7 colds in 18months sounds pretty good to me. Think the average for an adult is between 1 and 4 a year so you’re pretty much there. I probably average 1 a month now I have small children.

The trouble with mine is that they last 2 to 3 weeks and with fibromyalgia it doesn't take much to just wipe me out.
