Dealing with spiraling health anxiety?

I feel like I am making myself ill by worrying about being ill.

I had a bad bout of covid/ sickness/ vertigo last summer and since then have had muscle pains/ headaches/ dizzyness/anxiety every few weeks or so.

Saw GP and had blood tests and which flagged up something for review with haematology but the wait time is 52 weeks! But this may be a red herring and unrelated to my headaches/dizziness.

Now I'm just constantly worrying about if something is wrong with me, or if it's all just psychosomatic and I'm actually making myself feel ill by thinking and worrying about it!

How do I break the cycle?

I'm in a similar boat and now got an awful neck problem which is making the anxiety worse. I can't help but I do find Cherelle on YouTube really helpful. I think it's called Cherelle Thinks. She suffered from health anxiety herself and now helps others with it. Also Dr Kirrim on Instagram is good.

Thanks - just today I found a podcast about overcoming health anxiety with a psychologist called Wendy Dignan which made a lot of sense.

It’s horrible, isn’t it! I’m convinced my neck pain/headaches must be stress related - they just arrive and go without reason.

Yeah mine is pretty bad atm, I keep an anxiety diary so I can look back at stuff I've written and be like "oh I totally forgot I had that and it turned out to be nothing!" helps a bit. Exercise is good. But yeah I feel like I'm in a constant state of stress, it's horrible! Sorry it's affecting you so much as well. Stress and anxiety can manifest all sorts of symptoms and then it's a vicious cycle worrying about the symptoms it produces!
