Conjunctivitis in 13 month old - how do I bathe her eyes??

My dd has had this since last week. I am struggling to clean her eyes as she screams blue murder and really fights me (she is screwing her eyes up so tight that I can't clean her lashes). I'm not sure the prescribed drops are helping, but that maybe because her eyes are not properly clean. Any advice/tips gratefully received!
Thanks.

How about cooled boiled water, put a bit of salt in (sounds like it'll hurt, but it won't), dab a bit of cotton wool in and gently sweep from the inside of the eye (by the nose) outwards. Use a new bit of cotton wool for the other eye.

Will try adding a bit of salt to the water. Otherwise we have been trying to do just that! It's been awful! DH has to hold her down, while I try and wipe. Feel so mean!

dd had it at 8m and I did hers while she was asleep - also much easier to put the drops in when she was asleep too.

If it's really no better in a week go back to the GP - they may give you The Other Drops (fusidic acid) instead.

Thanks MrsBadger, hadn't thought of that... will give it a go. Fingers crossed!
