Fungal nail infection - fingernails

I have fungal nail infection on three finger nails (thumb, index and middle finger). I don’t know why and I didn’t realise that was what it was until I went to the pharmacy. It looks utterly hideous. The pharmacist said it’s way past any otc treatments and that I need anti-fungal orals from the gp, and I understand they take ages to work and have lots of side effects. Anyway, while I work out the best course of treatment… how can i disguise the hideousness? I keep trying to paint them to cover them up and am now trying falsies but I’m guessing neither are advisable, but I really really am embarrassed of how they look without anything to disguise them. I’m utterly depressed about it :(

go to your GP get terbinifine tablets
paint them in the meantime? it is awful!

In the end I suffered the embarrassment and they did get better after a few months on prescribed medication. It is awful I feel for you

I'm on terabifine right now for my toe. I've done three months with little improvement so expect I'll need another three months.
But luckily no side affects at all. I was warned about liver affects and that alcohol can exacerbate it. I have cut down just in case.
I painted my toe nails to cover it.

I put off getting the tablets for absolutely ages because I was worried about side effects but when I finally got around to it I had no side effects whatsoever!

I took the tablets for a few months, but mine was my toe nails and I feel like they grow slower too - plus I had a couple of podiatry sessions and they filed the nails right down too so they didn’t look so bad, can you do the same with your finger nails?

When I was on the tablets I booked a couple of podiatry appointments and they filed my nails right down so they looked better - I think mine took a good few months too but it’s so worth it now they’re grown out.
