Is it ok to have a few glasses of wine tonight before having sedation for an endoscopy tomorrow at 2pm?

Not if you are having sedation. One glass with dinner may be okay but safer not to have "a few".

Don't be daft. They'll probably realise and cancel the procedure.
Go in cleared headed and get as much sedation amd throat spray as they offer.

I can only think that most of the PP haven’t read you post properly and are under the impression you intend to go to your appointment under the influence! I don’t see why a couple of glasses of wine tonight will be a problem, the alcohol should be out of your system by 2pm tomorrow. Maybe not the whole bottle though.

Sorry I misread your post OP then couldn’t delete what I originally put! Wine tonight is fine. Hope it all goes well - I dreaded mine but it was loads better than expected.

The OP said a few not a couple, so that could be quite a lot. I'd treat it like driving, only drink what you know will have cleared from your system.

I had an endoscopy yesterday! It was fine so don’t worry at all about it 😊 I had 2 glasses of wine the night before & I also had a glass of wine last night. I wouldn’t have had more than that and my glasses were smaller than usual, but I was absolutely fine. Hope it goes well for you!

It's really not recommended to drink the night before, alcohol causes inflammation and can affect your result.

Yes I had a cannula, which was actually the worst bit (and actually not that bad at all) and I think the consultant gave me fentanyl mixed with something else I can’t remember & I cannot remember a thing about the procedure! It was over so quickly & everyone was so nice. I remember them asking me to pop something in my mouth ( for the tube & camera to pass through) and that was it- when I came round it was all over- I’ve had no discomfort or sore throat. Thankfully it was all clear - you’ll be fine xx

I don't know about the wine, but as long as you're not pissed as a fart getting on the table I'd have a glass or two. I don't drink, but sometimes wish I did!

I'm due an endoscopy next month. I had several when in hospital and sailed through them, but for some reason I am freaking out now. I think I was full of drugs in the hospital and don't remember much!

I think it's that thing going in my mouth like a mouth guard that is freaking me. Oh believe me I know it's nothing, neither is the throat spray and people get this every day, I KNOW, I had them! And I'll be sedated. I'm just not happy about it all. But it has to be done.

I'm a year older now and very twitchy and nervous now though. I'm thinking all kinds of things. But I must get through it.

One large or 2 small glasses of wine is fine. Won’t make any difference at all
