Fluexotine and hair loss?

Hi. I haven't been on here for ages (working) but my Sister has asked me to post this question.

She has been taking Fluexotine for 3 weeks and has noticed her hair falling out (not literally all) but quite a lot of strands of hair when she brushes it or washes it.

Has anyone had similar? She said she hasn't noticed the tablets working yet either. Should she go back to the doctors? Any advice appreciated.

3 weeks is a little soon for it to start working - it can take up to 6 weeks even if it's the right dosage. I take fluoxetine but it's never resulted in any hair loss. Has your sis recently had a baby, as that can cause hair loss. Definitely worth her going back to the docs to check out the hairloss, as I think it could be a symptom of an underactive thyroid (which can also make you feel tired and depressed).
