Allergies - mild but very annoying

Can anyone advise me of what to do.

We live in a world where if there is a pill that can mask something, we are encouraged to take it.

I have mild allergies that do make my life quite miserable for most of the summer, starting in spring, but not so bad as to actually need attention to function.

It's not the usual things, I'm mostly fine with grass, I think it's weed and tree pollen and I react to dust and mould indoors.

For a long while, during Covid, I took antihistamines every day and I did not like to do that. The nasal spray I was given 10 years ago (renewed) is very chemical and it always gave issues as well as helping.

Are there any new treatments for this sort of thing? Late summer is my worst time but I am living in a situation where one nostril is closed pretty much all the time from spring onwards and I can never breath freely through my nose.

My DS suffers really badly with allergies come spring and summer one of the things that helps the most and is not medicine is a saline nose rinse. You can buy a kit from Boots.

Being near salty air helps so time at the seaside!

A salt bath at home.

Any salt rooms near you?

Vaseline on nose to stop allergens entering.

Lots of face washing and hand washing.

We have a hepa air filter machine, DH wears face masks if really bad. This is pre Covid when wearing a mask in the street brought lots of stares. Changes clothes when gets home and showers.

I just take an anti histamine every day year round. Easier than trying to remember what's in season or being caught by an early spring.

Tree pollen is really bad right now, it's kicked off my asthma.

Have you tried Beconase spray? Magic stuff but start taking it now.

You sound similar to me OP - I sneeze all year round, though it's usually worse during hayfever season. I've self diagnosed as having some kind of rhinitis and I take antihistamines every day because I don't like sneezing and blowing my nose all the time.

Not ideal but I now take hormones every day plus Vit D so I guess I view it on a par with that - something which won't do me harm (a pharmacist friend has reassured me!) and will in fact improve the quality of my daily life and wellbeing.

Similar here. I use antihistamine eye drops mainly because itchy eyes drive me potty. For my nose though, I use Sterimar nasal spray. It is a saline solution that you use to rinse allergens from your nasal passages and sinuses. This regime works well for me. When pollen counts are high, shower before bedtime.
