Do I need to see a doctor?

I started around 3 weeks ago with a pretty bog standard cold type virus which turned into sinusitis. Those symptoms went after a week or so, but last week I continued to feel fatigued (and bizarrely tearful) and then from Sunday I have a new set of symptoms which are worrying me more.

In particular:

• quite bad abdominal pain, like I’m incredibly bloated from my stomach down with sharp pain which doubles me over from time to time. I had originally thought it was my adenomyosis (a bit like endometriosis) but this is not just uterine, it’s definitely my stomach too;

• low grade fever for the last 3 days - around 99-101. I tend not to get high temps so this is unusual for me and is causing periodic chills/sweats;

• racing heart beat. My resting rate is usually 60 something but it’s in the 80s/90s as standard at the moment, and sometimes randomly ramps up to 100-110 (I have an Apple Watch which records all of this). When I’m trying to sleep it feels particularly prominent and “thumpy”, and generally the nights are bad, between this and the abdominal pain; and

• general malaise and achiness all over - legs and knees stiff, and I’m a bit lightheaded.

All in all it’s quite nasty and not like anything I’ve had before. Other info - I’m 48, perimenopausal (although hesitant to attribute this to women’s issues given that it’s so acute), overweight and on blood pressure meds. Not particularly stressed or anxious.

Does it sound just like a weird tail end of the virus or is it worth checking out? Slightly freaked out by the racing heart in particular.

Sounds like an infection, I would definitely see the gp.

Sorry OP, sounds rough!

I believe the advice is to go to the doctors, if you have a fever for more than 3 days. They'll soon tell you, if there's nothing to worry about. I recently put off going to the doctors for something, and it's really snowballed. A hangnail is now a septic, hypergranulation wound with ingrowing fingernail 🙄Am kicking myself I didn't sort it sooner, would have been so much simpler (and less painful).

Hope you feel better soon x

Definitely, from what you've said

Thank you @ladymammalade @TunipTheVegimal24 and @coxesorangepippin for your replies. I’m actually feeling a lot better today and have turned a corner but I really do appreciate your help. :)

Looking back at old threads it seems that severe stomach pain and high heart rate have been covid symptoms so I suspect that that was the culprit. Hopefully I am done with it now - wouldn’t wish it on anyone!
