There was I feeling very bad, even tho I had applied the cream, but no, her teacher told me today it's slapped cheek.

Which can also cover the limbs aswel, so that explains the 'heat rash' on her arms.

Not contagious when it shows itself, but contagious during the incubation period, which is 1-3 weeks.

DD had been complaining of feeling unwell over the weekend, and when i looked at the symptoms, she ticked the boxes.

So, just to let you know, becuase I had no clue about this at all!!

hello. My Dc's have so far escaped it but it is spreading like wildfire around school at the moment! I think alot of parents are sending their children to school with it because they think it is sunburn or heat rash and so it is spreading. Last week, nearly half the reception class had it and there were some angry parents whose children did have heat rashes who had been called to come and collect their children unecessarily!!

dd2 had it a while ago. it started on her face, then spread down her arms and top of her back. she was a bit snotty and off colour before the rash came out but then was fine.

Must be the season for it - DD2 had it over the school hols just gone which cut down on where we could go out to (I know it's not supposed to be contagious once the rash is out but try explaining that to people...) So behaviour flared up as much as the rash - when DH came home one day I did exclaim "Sod Slapped Cheek she'll have Smacked A*se Syndrome in a minute"

DD2 had this a couple of weeks ago. She had a proper pin prick rash all over her body and her face went really dry. So dry that it cracked all around her mouth and it looked like she had coldsores. My poor baby.

lol @housemum's dh!

yes it IS ok to send them to school, but it depends if they are poorly with it. When my dd gets something she GETS it iyswim.

The heat, sun, a bath can aggrivate it, and as it has been so warm this week I am not surprised she has been hot and bothered my it.

Some kids have had heatrashe, so quite difficult to differentiate.
