Chest pain that went around to back

Hello!

I went to bed last night around 9, and I woke up at 11 with horrible chest pain (almost felt like heartburn) so I took some heartburn tablets but didn't go, then the pain went around to my back area, almost felt like a dull ache all over middle of my back! Was horrible, the pain was so awful I started throwing up, I tried drinking water but kept coming right back up. It felt worse when I was laying down so I was sitting up, I kept being sick from the pain, I was sick around 9/10 times, I managed to finally drift off to sleep around 330/4 - I called 111 but they was so busy I missed my call back around 5am.

Does anyone know why this happened?

This morning I've woken up and it's completely all gone, I'm fine apart from being absolutely shattered!

What age are you ? did the pain go out through the left shoulder ?Sounds like Gallstones to me also .

@TulipTuesday yes this was actually first thing that came up online when I googled my symptoms! But weird thing is the pain has gone now? I feel fine? I think I will call doctors this morning anyway and see what they say! It was such horrible pain!

@schnubbins I am 34! Ok thank you I will contact my doctor! The pain has gone today which is strange! But was really horrible in middle of my chest, and went around to my back which ended up being the worst pain! Which was making me throw up!

When my gallstones started it was just like that. Once the pain stopped I was absolutely fine, except for feeling a bit tired.

Please get checked for a heart attack.
My nan had these symptoms and my DH had shoulder pains and was clammy and nauseous.
Hopefully not but better safe than sorry x

@summer90x DH had a heart attack last week with similar symptoms so I read out your symptoms to him and he said definitely call 999. Could be something else too but no harm in getting yourself checked with an echocardiogram. It's better to be in A&E today in either case.

Ok thanks both! I have a nurse calling me back! I have a drs apt for tomorrow but just wanted to see today if I could! Xx

@whatisforteamum hello aww thanks for checking up! I went to see a doctor and explained the whole thing to them, they listened to my chest etc, that was all ok. She said it’s severe acid reflux, she said some people get this so bad it causes chest and back pain and in more severe cases - throwing up etc form the pain which I had- I’ve been put on medication for it for a month. She said if happens then again after she is going to refer me to have a camera down me to properly diagnose it, then I’ll probably have to take the medication for rest of my life. My brother actually has this to I found out! So horrible I’m hoping it doesn’t happen again! Xx
