Just wondering if anyone’s gotten this version of whatever has been going around? We’ve just returned from a trip to Holland and dad had a URI/RTI(?) that he got a short course of antibiotics for (3 days) and whatever he had caught, made him produce an excessive amount of pleghm. We met up with him after it had been a week post his last antibiotic pill and tried to keep our safe distance but managed to catch whatever he carried on our way back home (UK). This bug moves like a common cold with the usual URI/RTI symptoms but what I’ve noticed is the very excessive pleghm / mucus production lingering way past feeling overall better physically, which we have never experienced to this level before. I’ve had a stuffy nose, a cold, the flu, and even several bouts of bronchitis in my life, but I’ve never before spent 3 weeks producing the excessive mucus we’ve experienced the way my husband and I have been lately. Worse of all is that our (10mo) baby has also now caught it.
We’ve done the course of flu & cold meds at the first sniff we felt and I’ve been drinking tea (lemon & honey) mind you I very much am not a hot drink gal (blasphemous in Britain I know👀) even caved and drank some of the Lempsip extra strength satchels. We’ve had the humidifier running at night for baby now and I feel much better physically but the excess phlegm has not stopped 😭 we aren’t even coughing it’s very much upper tract still but it’s like a blowing nose fanfare a few times around the hour and the amount that comes out of us still at this stage would make you think we are still on week 1 of this bug. I’ve tried to look it up and all that I’ve found is we may have Catarrh but that it should clear on its own.
So, anyone else experience this mutation of the bug and any tips out there to stop the mucus bombardment 😩 I am about to order an adult nasal irrigation system or something at this point 🫠
