How did your Gallstone symptoms begin?

I have upper right abdominal pain, quite frequently (daily for short bursts) but not really severe, no temp but hot flushes, leukocytes in urine but apparently no infection. Pain has been on and off for about 3 months. Scan in 2 weeks to investigate. GP thinks potentially gallstones, the stories I always seem to hear seem to be a horrendous pain that takes you straight to A&E for diagnosis/removal of gallbladder....

Your symptoms fit the profile for gallstones, and not all 'stones' show up on an ultrasound scan. Mine didn't, because they weren't 'stones'. I had silt/sand size bits in my gallbladder and this silt blocked my bile duct, I developed acute pancreatitis, acute cholecystitis and other complications. I was in hospital for 3 weeks, on intravenous AB's, and it took several weeks to recover once I was discharged.

A CT scan was more effective than an ultrasound for me.

Thank you for this, I'll mention it to my GP, it says all normal, but will ask for a CT.

Good luck @BlueJay12

If it is your gallbladder, hopefully it can be sorted soon i.e. removal.

I have also suffered (for about 5 years) with on/off griping right side abdominal pain. I can be fine for months and then suddenly it flares up and can persist for months. It’s happening right now in fact. I’ve had numerous scans and investigations over the years which hasn’t really found anything of note but I know that I do have gallbladder polyps (albeit very small).

Mine feels like a tight band gripping my abdomen, always worse on the right side but left side also feels irritated at times. I feel nauseous and it’s always worse after I eat. I also have griping back and rib pain.

i really need to see a doctor but I’m mostly terrified that it could be something more sinister and am burying my head in the sand at this point and hoping it will pass again but it’s been a couple of months and no let up as yet.

it really sucks.

Thank you, I appreciate that xx

For everyone going through this, whatever the diagnosis, I hope you/we all get some clarity and solution soon, it's horrible xx

Excruciating back pain and sickness. Into A&E the next day, diagnosed with gallstones, pancreatitis and jaundice. In hospital for a week, then surgery to remove the gallbladder. Home next day. All good ever since.

Had clearly been asymptomatic in the build up, but then it all kicked off good style!

Pain down breastbone one night, radiating to bra line. Stitch like pain. None of it awful though. Felt a bit rough, turned out I had temperature and my blood tests were all over the place! Ended up on antibiotics and in acute surgery outpatients then scan and ultrasound conifirmingstones and inflamed gallbladder. Didn’t really have any more episodes but had it out after which surgeon said it was a mess! Absolutely fine now, no problems whatsoever.
