The cold which refuses to go, started off low level and gets worse

Has anyone else had this virus/cold.

It started about a month ago for the first couple of weeks I was feeling tired and run down with the feeling of a low level cold, but OK. Just over a week ago it hit me, high temp, feeling horrible and I slept for three days, I then thought I was getting better, but the last couple of days I have developed a hacking cough and have a small temp again, I can feel mucus dripping down my throat. I have not been this ill for years!

Yes, exactly as you describe. I’ve seen a few threads on here with people saying the same, it’s certainly something doing the rounds.

Mine started at New Year. I’d say in the last week I’ve stopped feeling ill, but I definitely don’t feel back to my full self energy wise.

cinnamonbunfight · 21/02/2025 00:39

I’ve got this too (it’s the reason I’m awake). Sympathies!

sparrowflewdown · 21/02/2025 00:58

Yes, very odd. It seems the same most days - like Groundhog Day. The cold just stays heavy and doesn't improve and now the mucous is almost choking me.

The lethargy is something else.

dothehokeycokey · 21/02/2025 01:20

Mine started last Saturday

Banging headache and earache followed by a really muzzy head and by Sunday I spent most of the day on the sofa.

Felt better Monday and got loads done.
Went to work Tuesday dosed up and feeling better but went downhill Tuesday night and I don't know how I got through Wednesday at work.

The mucus my body is creating is unreal
My head was thumping and the cough was horrendous.

Luckily I've got a few days off work now and today I did feel ok but my limbs are really achy today and the cough isn't good

I've also got a mega colder popping out on my lip so that's not helping.

tobee · 21/02/2025 01:38

Yes we've all had it here. Been going on forever. I think the hacking cough might be on the way out for me but I thought that before, and a resurgence yesterday 😑

I started with it at the start of December and I'm mostly recovered now but still have a slight cough. It's horrible and I've ended up on disciplinary at work for being off but I really didn't feel well enough to drive and then work all day.

ForRealwhen · 21/02/2025 03:12

Same here -
Cold since december and rather than fully resolving, just seems to morph from one cold into the next one ...

Someone else mentiond that they'd never had strings of illness like this before the Covid jab... makes me wonder?

Fingerscrossedfor2021HK · 21/02/2025 03:23

Yes and for me it was bacterial pneumonia. If you have a lingering cough push for a blood test. Took two sets of antibiotics to sort me out and I’m still shattered 10 weeks down the line from when it started. Mid 30s and usually fit and healthy. The worst I have felt in years!

EmpressaurusKitty · 21/02/2025 08:37

Oh fuck. I’ve had a cold for 2 weeks now, thought it had gone but the runny nose & random coughing fits came back.

salemcooper · 21/02/2025 09:03

Toddler has had horrific cough for about a month. For the last week it's turned into an awful snotty cold too and then in the last two days a rancid ear infection. Pus dripping out of the ears and toddler unable to hear at all. Doctor suggested visit the pharmacist. There is no end in sight with whatever this is.

rightoguvnor · 21/02/2025 09:06

Poor DD has been low with this for about 3 weeks now. She's not long started her dream job so doesn't want to go sick but she's really dragging herself around.

Every time it feels like it might be on its way out, the next day it returns with a vengeance. The Boomerang virus.

kerry19834 · 22/02/2025 15:58

Its just horrible, I hope everyone recovers soon
