Mum's cleaner using wrong sponges - how worrying is this?

Mum instructed her cleaner which sponge to use on the kitchen floor and which one to use on the surfaces.
She just found out that the cleaner has been doing the opposite, for a long time.
So Mum has, herself, been using a sponge on the surfaces and sometimes the dishes (she usually uses the dishwasher) that has been used on the floor. She says she tends not to put things directly on the countertop.
She has mild digestive symptoms which I attributed to stress and medicines.
I sent a message to the GP, but wondering how worried I should be.

Just have different coloured cloths/sponges etc for each so easy not to get mixed up.

But a proper mop for floors and washable cloths for surfaces. Problem solved

If she can afford a cleaner maybe get a dishwasher. Avoid the confusion.

I accidentally washed some dishes with a sponge I’d used to clean the hob. It was ok but obviously was more careful after.

I would like to think that most people use the same sponge/cloth for dishes and hob.
I havent met anyone who wouldnt (I lived in many households as live-in help).

What are you babbling on about? When have I expressed anxiety about cleaning products. Please point me to the post from which you have deduced this?

Its a) your first post as you seem to need a different sponges for hob and dishes b) the post where you say its beause of the cleaning product used.
Generally people use the same sponge or cloth for dishes and hob. If using different cleaning products, rinse it out and re-use. put it in the wash in between if you must.

I would never have guessed my boring little post would illicit such interest 😁

I don’t use the same sponge for my work top that I use for my dishes either, probably because I spray the worktop with whatever cleaning spray is at hand. To be honest I didn’t know people didn’t mind using the same sponge and just wash the cleaning fluid off it. Luckily there’s a shop near me that sells a pack of sponges really cheap so I just use some sponges for dishes and different ones for the hob and work tops, extravagant I know 😁 Maybe you have an electric hob but a gas hob with gunk and grease on it deserves its own sponge in my world.

And that poster never did point out which post expressed anxiety.

@BunnyLake

all of them express anxiety. germ/dirt type of anxiety.
electric or gass doesnt make any difference.

You're wrong 😁 I’m not the slightest bit anxious about stuff like that. I just use different sponges for cleaning dishes and cleaning other things, same as I use a different shower sponge and face flannel. No big deal, no anxiety. Nothing deep. I have a dishwasher anyway so don’t even wash that many dishes. I’m actually not even houseproud, I loathe housework and don’t do it nearly as often as I should. I’m also a big believer in exposing yourself to germs so your immune system doesn’t become too fragile. I just don’t happen to want to use a dirty, caked, greasy, cif soaked sponge to clean a dish when I have a supply of clean ones at hand. It’s not that complex. 🤦‍♀️ And cleaning an electric hob is very different to cleaning a gas hob. Gas hobs are a pita to clean, an electric one just needs a quick swipe.

@Lovelyleitrim Send me a laughing emoji if you want but you still haven’t pointed out where the anxiety is. 🤔😁
