My mate needs it, and is a bit tight on money so free would be better.

I was going to say Tesco but not free.

Chemists - she'll have to pay for it though. You could try the local out of hours GP service as well to get it on prescription. If you ring your surgery you should get a message giving you the number for the out of hours service

LynetteScavo · 09/05/2008 19:40

I think most chemists will give it (phone to find out first to avoid embarrassment adn inconvenience) and in many areas they give it free.

PortAndLemon · 09/05/2008 19:41

Any pharmacy can do it, and most of them seem to be open on Saturdays.

fizzledizzle · 09/05/2008 19:41

out of hours gp or possibly at the hospital

Lauriefairycake · 09/05/2008 19:42

I've never heard of it being given out free so really glad to hear that. They definitely do it in Boots but she will have to have a chat with the pharmacist. Think it was £22 the last time I took someone.

saltire · 09/05/2008 19:57

I am sure (but not 100%) that it's only those under a certain age that get it free, certianly in Boots this is the case. I think it's under 21!

LynetteScavo · 09/05/2008 20:16

I don't know in which areas they give it free. Possibly those with high abortion rates, or teen pregnancies? Or maybe it's at the discretion of the local health authority, and they decide what they would rather fund. I've no idea about these things.

LynetteScavo · 09/05/2008 20:17

I do know a fridnd, who is well over 21, was given it free in Boots, in Warwickshire.

PenelopePitstops · 09/05/2008 20:18

boots in warwickshire/west mids here aswell

It costs about 20 quid from a lot of pharmacies.

Alternatively, contact out of hours GP, family planning clinic (often have Saturday sessions) or A&E.
