Hi! I'm 42 years old, mum had breast cancer at 52 (now 73 and doing fine) and her mother (my grandmother) had it too (she died from it in her 50s). My mum doesn't carry the gene but because of the family history, I have regular checks and mammograms. Anyway, mammogram last week showed tiny calcifications in right breast. Asked to go back into tomorrow again for another mammogram and biopsy. I have two little boys and I am terrified that I have BC. Can anyone offer me some reassurance that this may not necessarily be bad news? Thank you xxx

My Mum had those, they turned out to be fine.
I’ll be honest, she did have BC at 50 and then the calcifications were found in one of the annual check ups afterwards.
My Mum was terrified the BC had returned, it hadn’t, all was well and years later she has now been given the all clear and told she’s no more likely to get it now than anybody else.

I have calcification spots and markers so mammograms are checked in this area . Never had a problem .

BruFord · 18/02/2025 04:53

I’ve also had some calcifications checked and they’re fine. Try not to worry. 💐

I was recalled from a routine mammogram at the age of 52. I had multiple calcifications in one breast. They did biopsies and added markers- the follow up visit a week or so later showed no cancer. I have since had another routine mammogram (3 years later) and all remains well.
Try not to worry x

Thank you ladies, my biopsy is today at 3.30. I know I won't get the results today but hope they might give me an idea of what we're dealing with 🙏🏻

A little bit. Sharp but quick, it’s fine.

They will give you an indication if the ultrasound picks up anything but won’t confirm either way till after the biopsy analysis is done - good luck 🤞

I'm 42, last year I was diagnosed with breast cancer from calcifications on a mammogram but I had also had other symptoms. I think the majority are normally nothing to worry about. Fingers crossed for you

Crazydogmumma · 20/02/2025 18:27

@ienjoyeatingcake - how did you get on with the biopsy?

ienjoyeatingcake · 27/02/2025 21:33

Hello, sorry for delay everyone, I've had a biopsy now, two areas in the right breast. Results on the 11th March. Hope to post with positive news then xxxx
