Out of hospital the next day, driving within a couple of days and back at work in a fortnight (school holidays) good luck with the weight loss.

got on ok with surgeon but am now so terrified of the whole thing i don't know if i dare have it done. I'm not sure if i can cope with the pain afterwards and the thought of seeing the scars really frightenens me. I've wanted this for so long but now it's becoming a reality, i dont' know what to do. Also had my letter saying i had an appt with nhs consultant (had booked in privately) does this mean , i could have it done on nhs? Even if i can have it doen on NHS, i wonder whether going private would be better? I'm in a real state over this

Having a couple of abdominal scars alraedy anyway, the scars bit doesn't frighten me.

Scars under my boobs wouldn't put me off as lets face it we very rarely display our boobs in public so who except you and dh is going to see them.

sitdownpleasegeorge · 22/05/2008 12:30

ododod

have you read sophiewd's comments about recovery from her breast reduction ?

sophiewd · 22/05/2008 12:31

The pain in my case was minimal and well managed and looking from above I can't see my scars and they will fade with time.

oopsadaisyangel · 22/05/2008 12:32

No personal experience but a close friend had a reduction and has never been happier - she loves them and isn't shy at showing you them

ohdearohdear · 22/05/2008 12:33

thanks. Sophiewe, would you mind me asking what size you went from and to? I'm a 34G atm and hope to go down to a 34D

Was given a self admin morphine drip for the first few hours then strong painkillers, DH had to help me bath for the first few days as wasn't aloud to get scar wet but he does wash hair very nicely .

Also a lot of consultants work both privately and for NHS, going private, can guarantee you will get iot done and when you want to.

sophiewd · 22/05/2008 12:35

Went from 42H to 42C

ohdearohdear · 22/05/2008 12:39

how long would you say it took for pain to go away? Could i ask where you had it done?

sophiewd · 22/05/2008 13:21

I was off pain killers and without pain afetr 2 days I think, was done in a private hosiptal in Dorchester Dorset.

xserialshopper · 25/05/2008 10:22

bump (because I want a breast reduction too)

Askers · 28/08/2011 18:28

Hi, I find myself in the lucky position of now having the money for a private breast reduction which is something I have wanted for so many years. Can anyone recommend a reputable surgeon in the Bromley area? Also, I'd be grateful to hear your story, good or bad, if you have had it done. Understandably, I am very nervous but also excited at the prospect of having manageable and less conspicuous boobs! Many thanks.
