Vaginal ultrasound on period

I’ve been having irregular periods since the birth of my 3rd child, lots of pain etc.

Ive been referred for testing and one is for a vaginal ultrasound, only trouble is i’m bleeding and not sure if I should rearrange?

Ive not told anyone I'm going for tests (family history of ovarian cancer and don’t want to worry anyone) so have no one to talk to in the real world, and not sure if it’s anxiety and me overwhelmed at it all so possibly over thinking.

In a nutshell; is it inappropriate to turn up bleeding and the poor ultrasound tech having to do the exam?

I would ring and ask the hospital.

It’s absolutely fine you’re on your period, a lot of these types of ultrasounds are preformed to investigate vaginal bleeding so you certainly won’t be the first. I hope your appointment goes well!

Thank you. I appreciate that!

Let them know - depending on the reason they sometimes say to rearrange if it's day1 and very heavy or they'll say if it makes no difference xx

I had an ultrasound including trans vagina and during conversation with radiotherapist mentioned it was lucky my period had just finished
However she reassured me that they are quite used to bleeding as often have to do the scans on women who are having a miscarriage. So I wouldn't worry

Just want to say thank you for the replies. I went a day prior to check and tech said it would be fine (they’re used to dealing with bleeds and VUS).

Tech was very professional and lovely on the day.
