Not had the appointment through for audiologist yet, but had her SALT form from school...

They have written on it that she has poor balance in PE.

Plus last week she overheard us discussing when the appointment will come through, and she wants to know why she has to have one because she picked up a toy for all the beeps

I'm thinking she wasn't just ignoring it...

i don't know what to advise. I know that poor balance can be indicative of ear problems but at her age i would think poor balance is quite common.

can you talk to her about her hearing in general? in a fun kind of way? like how quiet/loud can you hear me talking? would she understand that sometimes people hear different amounts of things and that the audiology appt is to see what she can hear and she is special for being picked out?

Or is this advise a load of crap and you would be better waiting for someone who actually knows?!

At the moment we have told her that they just want to do different kinds of checks to be extra specially sure

The loud/quiet thing she can't be arsed with - she gets stroppy and refuses to do anything "I tired of talkin."

I felt with the balance that most 4 yr olds are wobbly, but that a reception teacher probably knows the difference between normal wobbly and significantly? We have always said that she has been blessed with my grace , so it wasn't a huge surprise for someone else to notice too. She has just always been a bit clunky with her movements (didn't learn to jump for aaaaaaaaages, and even now struggles to skip etc, whereas Flameboy has gone the other way and does perfectly balanced forward rolls )

I just wish they'd get a move on with the appointment so I can know rather than keep over thinking it. My brain tells me thinking about it is pointless, but my heart won't stop pickin at it.

((((hugs))))

have to say, ds1 couldn't jump for aaaaaaaaaages and ds2 can already jump(ish) hop and forward roll
