Thought I'd share this and give you all.

Doing some craft work, quick dry adhesive wouldn't come out of the bottle so what do I do? Stare down the nozzle to make sure it's working it's way out whilst squeezing with all my might, that's what. Nozzle flies off and half a bottle of glue lands in my eyes and hair. Blind panic strikes. Rinsed my eyes with water as best I could, gp insists I go to eye casualty. 3 hours later after they've picked all the glue out of my eyes, flushed them and got the ph levels back to normal and tested for any damage I'm allowed to come home having given me some antibiotic cream to prevent any infection

Was not funny at the time I can assure you and will from now on amke a conscious effort to point potentially explosive glue bottles away from my face.

How serious could it actually have been?

That sound terrible! Poor you and what a numpty thing to do

worrybum · 08/05/2008 10:47

yes I feel like a numpty, apparently dh's boss had a good giggle at my expense when dh explained why he had to leave work so urgently. Have had a thumping headache since....don't know if it's related because I don't usually get a lot of headaches

Eye strain would deffo give you a nasty headache. That is just the sort of thing i yell at the kids for

Still awful though, how is your hair? Of course eye is more important but still

fatzak · 08/05/2008 10:51

Oh poor you, how painful When I was about 14, I was trying to squeeze in some eyedrops - bottle wasn't working so had a good look and saw that it was actually glue for false nails I was trying to squeeze out Always think about that and how lucky I was.

Oh and picking the glue out of your eye - ouch.

worrybum · 08/05/2008 11:00

LGAT - spent 20 mins in shower shampooing and brushing glue out!!!! looks reasonably okay today thank god!

fatzak - wasn't painful actually because they put anaesthetic drops in eyes first! in fact what hurt more was when the put the strips of paper in to test ph lol!

Feel like a prize ass today - eveyone thinks it's hilarious. Hospital told me to use superglue next time because apparently that is easier to remove ?!?!?!?!?!?!?
