Would you cancel plans you were looking forward to because you and DS were ill?

I was supposed to see a friend today with some other Mums and babies but me and DS are quite ill. It came on overnight. Temperature, runny nose etc. I feel like shit actually! Anyway I just called and emailed my friend (a MN friend actually!) but I feel really bad partly because I hate cancelling on someone and partly because I was really looking forward to it as was DS. But you SHOULD cancel when you are sick shouldnt you? I mean so you dont get other people sick. I would just feel really bad if we got a little baby ill.

Tbh, yes I would. It's awful to miss a social event you've been looking forward to, but you could pass it on to other mums as well as babies.
I am sure your friend will understand - and maybe even thank you for it.

Hope you both feel better soon

Dropdeadfred · 08/05/2008 09:59

yes, I would. Get well soon!

yes I would. You won't enjoy it as much if you're ill anyway and your ds won't be feeling up to it either.

feel better soon - I have my ds upstairs ill today with something similar. high tem/says his head hurts .

thanks. I feel awful but so does DS. He is crying saying "neck hurts mama" which I think means he has a sore throat??? He is 21 months today so its hard to get it exactly out of him.

Poor you and DS. I hate having to cancel things, especially if you were looking forward to getting out of the house for a bit, but its the best thing to do.

My DS is a similar age and he also says 'neck hurts' - its sometimes when a back tooth is coming through.

Hope you both feel better soon.

well, depends on the plans
we had a weeks holiday booked in paris. even though i had a high temperature in the mmorning, we still went.
a week in egypt. dh coupghing his lungs out. took antibiotics, lots of lemsip and off we went.
meeting someone for a coffee and lunch, cancel without a moments hesitation. but if child is younge enough to sleep in pushchair, then, no i wouldnt bother, as they can sleep just as comfortably in pushchair as on sofa.

I would hate anyone to come visit me if they and their child were unwell. You definitely did the right thing!
Get better soon
