I've just been for a check up at the dentist, and my dentist said she's concerned about my throat and has referred me on a two week pathway! I didn't ask any questions as I was a bit shocked! What's a two week pathway? I've had a niggly cough and sore throat on and off for a few weeks, but not really serious enough to warrant a doctor appointment. I' lm absolutely sick with worry now x

She just said she was concerned about my throat, and then asked if I was a smoker (I'm not) or had any cancer in the family. I feel sick with worry 😟

Bloody hell, that was so insensitive of her. Ask your GP for an appointment as soon as possible,

But try to reframe it that you are lucky she took seriously something you had dismissed. It could just need antibiotics or better oral care. or it could need attention - in which case her insensitive comments could be life-savers.

Not insensitive , you have to ask these questions because they need to be filled out on the referral form, even if you were just referring for wisdom teeth removal . Most referral forms will ask for alcohol intake as well.

Any updates OP? I hope all is well now

Sounds like strep throat? Try not to worry OP

Please don't worry OP. I went through a similar situation with my dentist and it turned out to be nothing.
I would ring your GP practice to get a GP appointment, I don't understand the 2 week pathway as I thought that was the timeline for a hospital referral once you have seen a GP.
