GORD but further up?

I've recently been diagnosed with GORD however I rarely get heartburn, it's more a feeling of - I don't know - my oesophagus feels 'open' right up where my trachea starts. It causes a lot of throat clearing and cough and a feeling of moisture (?) there, it feels hot and gassy and I feel out of breath.
I've altered my diet so I'm not eating triggering foods or drinks but with a hot drink (herbal teas) I get the same feeling. The breathlessness is worrying as is the throat clearing and 'spluttering' I don't know how else to describe the cough. I had an endoscopy which revealed inflammation in the throat but thankfully nothing else and I'm waiting for H Pylori results.
The ENT I saw suggested it was allergies and has asked for bloods.
Next week I'm to have barium testing although I'm not clear on why if he thinks it's allergies. Has anyone had similar who can relate?

Have you been tested for asthma? Sounds like when I'm having a mild attack

Were you tested for eosinophili oesophagitis?

Could it maybe be Laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR)? I believe it's a sub-set of GORD. Google LPR and see if anything resonates with your symptoms. It could be allergies but I know that reflux can cause problems in airways so maybe that's what's happening with you and I've read it can be mistaken for asthma. I haven't been diagnosed with LPR as I don't have visible damage (yet) nor do I have all your symptoms, but I do get that hot and gassy feeling - I describe it like a burning vapour, is that how it feels to you? I get it when I'm stressed, that seems to be the trigger for me. I'm no expert, just making a suggestion which may or may not be helpful. Sounds like you are seeing the right people so hopefully you can get this resolved soon, all the best.
