Oh what a lucky choice us women get to pick from...

  1. have a predictable / regular but heavy period every 24/25 days. Involving leaks in the night, double san pro, menstrual headaches... but no issues in between.

Or!

  1. Try cerazette and have potentially constant/unpredictable bleeding for months on end. (I'm aware for a small group of women this could stop periods but I'm trying to be more realistic of the more likely scenario)

Fwiw, coming up 37, done having kids , pretty sure I'm peri as periods are getting heavier.

Are those your only choices?

36and3 · 25/01/2025 06:36

Yep. Can't take anything with oestrogen and a previous experience of the mirena was awful and not to be repeated!

I bled dreadfully with cerazette but have been much better so far on Slynd. Might be worth trying.

Potential is the word here. You potentially could have side effects, you potentially could be fine.
Cerazette, which I'm on, completely stopped my periods for first 5 years i was on it. Then I had a 2 year break, back on a year now and having normal flow, like clockwork periods.
Everyone is different. Not helpful I know, but no one can know how you'll personally be on it

Is there only cerazette you can have? Not going to lie, those things are the fucking devil. I had a constant period on those 😡 is there a different pill you can try?

PickledPurplePickle · 25/01/2025 06:50

For balance I had Cerazette and never had a period while on it. I would try it for a few months before dismissing it

So tranexamic acid doesn't help?

You don't have a fibroid ? So a Hysteroscopic Myomectomy wouldn't help?

Do you have a hormone imbalance? If so might some herbs help?

36and3 · 25/01/2025 07:24

@Calmhappyandhealthy thanks for the reply. No, no fibroids or anything that I'm aware of. I had a pelvic mri for another reason in October and nothing detected. Also had full mot of blood tests and nothing abnormal detected.
