Dh's visit to the oncologist

Parsons egg, good (and bad ) in parts.

Bad news is that the chemo has stopped working and there is significant growth in the tumours in the lymph glands in his abdomen.

Good news is that there is now growth in the tumours in his lungs, since he was last scanned ( a month ago) and there is less fluid in his lungs.

So the current chemo has been stopped, and doc is exploring possible other treatment options (not sure that she eill find any, and she may be letting us down gradually).

Dh is increasingly breathless, and she has suggested a blood test to see if he is anaemic (since lungs are no worse and actually have less fluid in them)

Not great, but it could be worse

I try not to read too much into anything these days, other than where to get good stickers.

One of my jobs used to be finding medical information in the internet, and I know that I could find out everything about dh's cancer and possible treatments in a few seconds. But if I did that it would kill me.

So I strimmed the gardenn edges, and pulled up some weeds and helped the kids with their homework instead. Better for me

Sounds like a good pragmatic attitude to the situation, MB.

Sorry the news wasn't better, but for the positive stuff about the lungs.

Sorry the news was not better, but glad to hear about the lungs. I hope the breathlessness can be sorted out easily.

Thinking of you often

You have such a great attitude MB.

Really don't know what to say otherwise.

PollyLogos · 06/05/2008 18:03

Glad to hear that there was some good news. Wish it had been ALL good though.

As ever, all the best to the whole mb family. You are so frequently in my thoughts.

trulymadlydeeply · 06/05/2008 20:39

I think of you so often, MB, and marvel at your pragmatism.

Really wish, wish, wish they could find a way through that would significantly help Mr MB.

Glad the news is not worse than it is, but wish it could be better.

Lots of love to the whole family.

I think about you often MB (and at bizarre times - e.g. while stripping the beds this afternoon!) - you are an astonishing woman. I wish my kids could be taught by you, and I can't imagine ever having your strength.

I was thinking about you yesterday, MB, and wondering what the news was. Sorry it wasn't better. Fingers crossed that they find something else to try.

TotalChaos · 07/05/2008 08:17
