Chest x ray and chest infection

I’ve had a cough and feeling the illest I have ever felt for the last three weeks. GP gave me antibiotics and sent me for a chest x ray.
The GP receptionist has called to say the chest x ray was normal. Does this mean I don’t have a chest infection? The receptionist wasn’t sure and I can’t get a GP appointment for a few days.
Does anyone know if it can still be a chest infection with a normal chest x ray?

DH has the same issue. Chest infection then ABs but still coughing.
Chest xray showed no infection or mass but to be repeated in 6 weeks.
