Vertigo that won't fuck off

I've had vertigo now for weeks. I had that respiratory virus that is doing the rounds about 5 weeks ago - nasty, throat like razor blades, ears bubbling inside and sinusitis. Still have problems with ears and sinuses. Throat fine. How LONG does this last for? Can't see GP until beginning of Feb when she said she would check my ears. I feel sick on a daily basis because of the vertigo. Anyone else had this? Thanks in advance.

What are your B12 levels like?

MyGirlDaisy · 17/01/2025 16:44

Have you tried the Epley Manoeuvre (someone told me to google it) - it helped me when I had dizziness.
One Christmas I had terrible vertigo and nausea- I got my son to drive me to the pharmacy as I couldn’t drive myself and bought Buccastem tablets. Without them Christmas wouldn’t have happened because I just felt so sick. I hope you feel better soon.

Sounds like labyrinthitis

I had this antibiotic from the dentist fixed the infection which had lasted six weeks. Before that I could barely stand, had nausea.

I did need to do the Catherine Cookson exercises to restrain the brain.

@Whatzzitz not sure if my B12 levels were checked when I had full bloods done on 13th December (only my thyroid came back low). I'm hypothyroid. Are B12 bloods usually requested as a separate entity?

Result for Serum TSH
[Serum TSH level 0.27 mIU/L [0.3 - 4.5]; Below low reference limit

My Levothyroxine meds were put up from 75mg to 100mg and I have to have bloods done again on 19th February.

I had this once, and someone told me to go onto Youtube for videos how to get rid of it .... if you search for vertigo treatment, it really does help.

When I have vertigo, I take Sturgeron (sp?) 15 - the motion sickness drug. It knocks me out for about 3 hrs (am sensitive to sedatives) and am groggy when I wake up, but my horrible vertigo symptoms will have gone. You can get it from a chemists.

My DH has a perforated eardrum so gets vertigo every so often, he gets prescribed Prochlorperazine which helps with the sickness and dizziness and it gets slowly better, but can take weeks to go away completely.
