My dh and I are in the process of applying for fairly substantial health insurance - if one of us dies, the other would get the mortgage paid off plus a monthly allowance for the kids from the insurer. As part of it, a nurse is coming to our house to do the following: Mini Screening Exam / Biochem/ Instant Cotinine.
What is Biochem? I know the cotinine is for nicotine (I think?) but I can't find out anywhere what the biochem is and what it's looking for. I don't have any known reason to worry about these but I am nervous because I don't know what they're looking for - will they find something I don't know about? Also, if anyone has any info about the mini screening exam I'd be grateful to know what this means too.

Biochemistry is kidney function and possibly liver function.
