Major hair loss - gp or wait?

I had severe food poisoning and lost a lot of weight 3 months ago and I suspect that's causing it but my hair is shedding like crazy

Would you hold off or go to the GP? I've been there so much recently with various things and I think my hair has just gone "enough now"

Major hair loss - gp or wait?

The same thing happened to me when I got flu and pneumonia and lost a lot of weight. I didn't see a doctor and it was fine, and it grew back eventually, but I think it might still be worth seeing a doctor as it could be an issue with a vitamin deficiency or your thyroid or something like that. Better safe than sorry!

Should add I do have controlled hashimotos and I have full blood tests every 12 weeks, nothing unusual showing
I take vitamin d and iron plus a multi vitamin

Yes it is related to that, anytime you start losing hair you have to go back about three months as that is usually the timeframe for what caused it
Get your ferritin checked etc and start taking Vit D, Biotin and also tea rinsing, that will stop any further hair falling out when you wash it

If your ferritin if over 10 is shows as normal but you need over 70 to maintain your hair and over 120 for growth

Yeah it's 3 months and 1 week since the food poisoning
Already on vitamins but can't take biotin unfortunately as it causes horrible acne!

Mine was 66 and I've been taking iron alternate days with a vitamin c tablet to try and get it up a bit
