Hi,

I've just been discharged from hospital after a few days of IV antibiotics for this condition. I have a follow up ultrasound in a few weeks.

I'm not in any pain or feeling unwell at the moment which is good. Oral antibiotics seems to be doing their job.

I've had PID before but it was missed and self resolved (left me infertile), so I don't know what to expect in terms of next steps of medical management, especially as this is my second abscess.

Has anyone got any experience being treated for this that they can share please? Not much online.

I had this last year. It's good you are not feeling unwell or in pain. The antibiotics I got made me feel really sick and I still was in pain.

Hopefully the antibiotics clear it up for you. Unfortunately for me they didn't and I ended up back in hospital and needed surgery to drain and more antibiotics.

Thank you - I had a lot of sickness initially but my body seems to have adjusted thankfully.

How did you know the antibiotics didn't work? Did you still have the abscess on ultrasound?

I was stil in a lot of pain and started being sick which was what I had previously. Then just felt really unwell. Out of hours called the ward and I was readmitted. Ultrasound showed size had increased and blood test showed infection levels were higher than first admittance. That's when they decided to do the surgery. Was keyhole so relatively easy recovery with more antibiotics.
