Could a UTI happen same night as sex?

Hi,

I’m unsure whether to phone my GP tomorrow or if what I’m experiencing is quite normal.

I have a history of chronic UTIs but has been managed in last year so not been so much of an issue. Just now and again. Sex has never been too much of an issue (if it has its been a flare and treated)

I lately had sex and was dry. The same night I felt like I had a pain higher up in pelvic area - right after and needed to pee more than usual. I did pee prior and after sex. I always shower too but delayed shower this time. Its now been a few days and it’s not like I’m going constant but feels different upper. Awareness of a pain - it comes and goes and peeing hasn’t changed too much but at same time?

I just didn’t know could it be dryness and deeper sex that has caused sensitivity even though its few days, or can UTI come on suddenly? Sounds silly. Just worried as don’t want this to impact. I didn’t feel pain during. It says on my flo calendar ovulation but never had this!

i feel torn on GP as in past diptests haven’t picked up infection yet antibiotics cleared it, I also don’t know with it not being typical UTI symptoms?

With the pain being higher up, it's possible your kidneys are impacted.
I'd get yourself to the GP pronto.
Is there any blood in your urine?
Worth getting checked out for chlamydia etc as that can cause cystitis type symptoms.
Don't worry, it's all easily treatable but don't delay just because it's a really horrible feeling.

Yes. I used to be very prone to UTIs and sometimes severe ones started straight after or even during sex. I’m presuming there was bacteria already doing its thing in there that I didn’t know about and sex made it a lot worse. I ended up in hospital once as straight after sex I was writhing in pain from a UTI and couldn’t stand. It was a horrible few days.
