Hi everyone.

I've had a cough for around 6 weeks.

I had doxycycline which improved things a bit, then a couple weeks later (still coughing in between I got worse)

I was prescribed inhalers which didn't do anything

I then started feeling really generally unwell.

My cough is a mucus cough, which sometimes I bring up mucus from and others it just feels like fluid on lungs tbh..

I took myself up the hospital Sunday night just gone, and was given clarithromycin.

I noticed after taking a couple antibiotics I was generally feeling a bit more human and like myself but my cough doesn't seem to have improved? I'm worried about fluid on my lungs. I've been in bed for 4 days now, off work, sleeping as much as possible trying to get better but when is this mucus going to clear?

I understand the cough may linger but the mucus/fluid feeling in my lungs is what's concerning me?

How long after starting antibiotics for pneumonia/chest infection did you notice the mucus ease on your chest?

I had a chest infection last May that took a couple of courses of antibiotics to shift. I had amoxicillin first that didn’t work so they gave me clarithromycin along with a course of steroid tablets that cleared it. The antibiotics cleared the infection and the steroids cleared the inflammation but it still took me a while to feel completely back to normal.
