Small pea sized lump under skin at side of neck

The lump is under my skin at the left side of my neck. It is not visible and I don't have any other symptoms. I think I have had it for over a year but it has never caused any issues. It's around the size of a pea or even smaller. The doctor told me it's most likely a lymph node but I'm being referred for a scan soon. Do you think it's most likely a lymph node? Has anyone else had anything like this before because as it has not disappeared I am starting to worry abit now

Usually a swollen lymph gland. All have to scanned in case it's more serious and sometimes the scan may not be conclusive. They can stay around a long time. If it starts to grow they'll be worried and refer you faster.
