My 7 month old son keeps vomiting heavily

Hi there,
A week ago my DS started to go off his solids and milk feeds. Then a few night ago refused his 11pm milk feed (formula). I tried again at 12am but he also refused it. Then at 3am he woke crying and obviously hungry. He took a whole bottle but then promptly threw it all up along with the little bit of solids that he had at lunch time.

The following evening he threw up his 7pm feed straight after drinking it.

Last night (1am) he threw up a huge amount during the night - luckily we heard it on the monitor.

Today he has just thrown up tons just as I was about to feed him (3pm). I can't get over how much he brings up each time.

When we got him up yesterday morning he felt hot and was really grisly. He had a temp of 102.

We took him to the GP yesterday and he couldn't think of what could be the cause and said to see how he is the following day as it was probably a 48hr bug. Well today is 3 days and he's still being sick. Should I go back to the GP? I'm worried about him.

He's had a bad last 8 weeks - he had a cold, then teething, then a chest infection, then another cold, then teething again and now this!

I would call nhs direct, they are very good and will tell you if you need to go back to your gp or take him to A&E, they will also advise you on other things you might need to do, ie plenty of fluids etc.....dont be afraid to ring them for advice in these situations, thats what they are there for.

Poor little thing, hope he gets better soon.

How old he he?

I'd suggest to stop giving him a lot to throw up.. just fluids, little and often.

But get more advice.

My DS2 has been like this for about 7 days (he's 9 months). Its started with a cold / cough and he's been out of sorts and not that keen on his food. Then about 7 days ago he strated being sick and had diarohhea. He's been sick at least once a day and its normally in the evening or during the night for some reason . The bad bottom has continued relentless...

I've been to the doctors twice, first for the cough and then the sickness and he says just a virus and that it will pass...

As Chocolate says I've been giving him water as often as I can and little bits of food to graze on in the day rather than a big meal.

Hope he feels better soon - its rotten when they are ill isn't it?

Fingers crossed my DS doesn't puke again tonight

Oh, and a lot of what comes up or out depending on which end we are talking about, looks fairly undigested

Thanks everyone - it's reasuring to know that it's normal. Now how can I get rid of the permanent smell of vomit coming from me?
