I had lots of these in childbirth, my baby flew out ( after 2 huiors of non productive pushing) and cause alot of damage.

I was really shocked by the damage, it was explained to me like a plastic bag splitting under pressure.

Did anyone else have lacerations everywhere like me? I expected the tearing /episiotomy type tearing but the labial tearing etc really traumatised me. Very painful at the time, and 6 yrs on sometimes i have sore bits.

I think i was in a state of shock, there were many stitches all over the place, and when I look now I can see lots of little holes where the stitches were.

It has made me feel like I am the only one with this sort of damage, and i just wanted to know if anyone else had such cuts.

both my babies came out with their arms over ther face and split me widthwise.

with dd they stitched me but with ds i refused as the stitching and stitches healing were worse than the cuts themselves.

i don't think i was too bad though and i didn't split along my perineum at all weirdly enough so i got off lightly really

hi again piratecat.... think we have some common ground, mate - as you've probably seen from the other thread.
DC1 episiotomy, stitched immediately, no probs at all. DC2, born at hideous speed, loads and loads of lacerations everywhere, i cried for weeks, always hurt so much i wee'd in the bath,(for 2 months) oh god it was awful. DC 3 just slithered out not a single scratch or tear but can still feel the damage from no2 esp when er, not lubricated or having a frequent bit of, ummm, fun with DH. Ouch. still brings tears (tears from eyes, not tears as in o.p.) when i think about it.

gigglewitch · 01/05/2008 23:13

oh btw, mine weren't stitched. owwww. lots of them were borderline [apparently] over whether they needed stitching or not. bloody painful regardless.

piratecat · 02/05/2008 10:40

hi gigglewitch,

bloody horrible is was/it at times. I had stitiches all over. I think they left some unstitched, the bits that I can see now that look like welts in the skin.

I was depressed about it for yrs, very painful. I mean a scrape on the knee is bad enough, but not on your bits.!

I was quite badly torn with both of my dc's,both came out with one hand by their head and both bloody times I was torn with the pressure and scraped by their fingernails ouch, first time I wasn't stitched but with my ds I had a fair few stitches in and out and have some nice scars.

It ain't pretty down there.

hippipotami · 02/05/2008 11:03

I tore badly with ds. He was back to back so came out facing upwards and with his hands over his face.
He also got hideously stuck and became distressed, but that is another story.
I tore all over the place. And was stitched up too tight. Going to the toilet was agony, I used to poo and pee in the bath for a month.

Dd was born very very quickly. She just shot out after 3 pushes. Before my bits had a chance to stretch. And as I had been stitched up too tight previously, I tore badly. Not as badly as with ds, but still badly.
More stitches, inside and out.

Even now (ds is 8 and dd is 5) things are not right down there. I feel like my lips burn whenever I have a period. Fun with dh is no fun after about 10 minutes, and all in all it looks a bit of a mess.

In my next life I will just have pets!!

hippipotami · 02/05/2008 13:06

Did I kill this one then? Was it TMI?

hiya,
no not tmi!!

Yes there was lots of blood with me, I remember my midwife at home seeing the notes and saying so.

My dd shot out, I hadn't stretched, and the more pushing I did the more closed I seemed to become.

where is lulumama!! I looked into the whole birthing thing and there is actually a condition or type of phase whereby there is not enough stretching . I was at it 2 hours aswell.

6 yrs on and I still feel let down by the whole thing, had nasty midwife, and spd to boot. God nkows how i will ever show my bits to a new partner. (divorced now)

I am total mess down there as well and very scared of another delivery as still feel so tight 15 months on. I have a huge scar ridge along the perineum which can get very sore. But all the tearing in my labia has made me hate even touching there, never mind dh! It is so supersensitive. At the 6 week check, the doctor said, "Still a right mess here, did the baby come out with talons?"
